Yoga Playlists (Part Seven)

I went through a period of using pretty up-tempo techno as the bulk of my playlists. I've never posted one of these before, so without further ado, here it is yo:

ka-ba vinyasa 26
1. Galaxy "La casa de Can Raco" from Science of Ecstasy
2. Markus Schulz "Traveling Light" from Without You Near
3. Alex Gaudino "Watch Out (Extended Mix)" from Watch Out
4. Art of Trance "Madagascar (Domi Nation Remix)" from Madagascar Remixes
5. Morgan Page "The Longest Road" from Elevate
6. Deep Theory "Do It (Miguel Migs Large Dub)" from Summer Night Sessions
7. Mimic "Re-Solve" from Afterhours Ibiza
8. OceanLab "On A Good Day" from Sirens of the Sea
9. Ratnabali "Spiritual Trance" from Shiva Lounge
10. Bonobo "Transmission 94 (Parts 1 & 2)" from Days to Come
11. Legion of Green Men "Constellation (Adam Shaikh Remix)" from Polymorphic Convolutions
12. Galaxy "Meet the Buddha" from Science of Ecstasy

Bonobo, OceanLab and Morgan Page are all great for yoga playlists and can easily work in playlists not so techno oriented. I went through a period where one of the three were on just about every playlist I made. Mimic is the "break after inversions" track and it's a great one for that. The intro track is a little beat heavy, I keep meaning to switch it out. "Meet the Buddha" is a pretty cool closer though. The Art of Trance track reminds me of 1999 and Oakenfold's classic Tranceport mix.

This is the sort of playlist I can only really use for specific, high energy sorts of classes - it's just too much otherwise. These days I'll use my techno playlists (I've got three of them) maybe on average once a month. If I use them on the right days the reaction from the class is great but on the wrong days they hit like a lead balloon.

Ah February

February - it is the shortest month of the year on the calendar but for my dollar it can often feel like the longest experientially. I'm usually a very happy guy but it's about this time of year that I can get down, and it's not just me: worldwide Feb has the highest suicide rate. Now that's an interesting factoid as you'd think this whole "Feb Sucks" thing would be based around the cold weather but many areas of the world are experiencing very different weather than we MNtians are right now.

Last year, however, I took a step to help diminish the affects of this time of year. I enrolled in yoga teacher training. 200 hours in 9 weeks is a lot of time and I was too busy doing things that I loved and was driven to do to have the time to wallow in it. It worked really well and last Feb was absolutely great!

This year I'll be starting Feb with the Nutrition Program cleanse, I'll be learning how to teach yoga sculpt, I'll be teaching a lot of classes (though a couple less than I have been), I'll be going full force into Ka-baalim "volume three" work and I'll be prepping for an Advanced Teacher Training that I'll be doing in Mexico come mid-April. I'd guess that all of this should help a bit. Free time's for summer, Feb's for work!

Wish me luck.

No grand thoughts today just updates and chit chat

6:45 am

Great night last night, Nick is in town from LA and so I got to hang out with him and a very specific most excellent group of friends that I only ever see when he's around. Ate at Kinh Doh and then went to the very cheesy and yet surprisingly relaxed (in that there was no one there) Restaurant Miami. It's worth the visit just to see the fabled "Scarface Lounge" and to see that the tables have telephones so that you can call other tables to hit on people. Wow. Seriously, wow. "Hey baby, youse lookin' pretty hot drinkin' your Scarface movie quote named beverage, youse wants to come over and maybe do it?" None of that for me but I did drink virgin drinks and talked movies and music and all the good stuff. Really a great time - a super nice group of people.

Of course I talked myself hoarse but this morning I feel better than the last few mornings. No fever, my voice is fine but I am a bit phlegm-y in the throat. Oh well, once again the prize was more than worth the price (you get the idea I'm proud of that phrase, cuz I am).

I teach a couple of classes today and a few tomorrow but otherwise have nothing on my plate, which is fun. I'm enjoying the holidays much more this year than I have in ages. I wonder how much of that has to do with the fact that we've got snow on the ground? I love the snow.

Very best,

David
