The Political Post

Yeah, I don't usually write about politics. For those of you who'd rather not read about politics please avoid this one.

I think the "a Bush needs a Clinton to pick up after him" is a mildly dangerous way of looking at things in that it turns American presidential politics into a form of Dynasty. The next natural progression would be for Jeb to take over for Hillary and then who, Chelsea? We'll already have gone through 20 years of Bush/Clinton/Bush in the ruling seat (28 if you count Bush Sr.'s time as VP) do we want to make that number higher? If so, when does it stop? My voting life has always seen a Bush or a Clinton in charge and I'm 33, not exactly a spring chicken.

There are times that the Dem/Rep division seems a little Coke/Pepsi as it currently is, this just makes it that much more so. Historically, we're already closer to Dynastic Presidencies than we've seen before so I think it wise to tread a little carefully right now.

Personally, I'm all about the Obama and I really hope he wins the nomination. I think that Reagan was the last president to exude his degree of charisma. It'd be nice to have a president who was able to act as inspiration. We'll see how it plays out.

I'm sold hook line and sinker on Santogold. Hope the album is out soon, just got the "Creator/L.E.S. Artistes" single last week and am pretty well addicted. Oh yeah, Robyn's cover of "Cobrastyle" is also total musical obsession material for me.

Some Up to the date David Not David News!

Today I've done much better following my diet. Tomorrow I test tomatoes. That should be fun. I hope I do well with tomatoes as pizza sauce and salsa depend on it!

Tonight I'm going to help my friend Elizabeth "Lizzard" for an art class. She'll be taking pictures of some of us yoga types doing various postures. Hopefully she will capture the majesty and joy of me doing headstand with full lotus legs on film. I sense a future Myspace avatar.

Stockhausen in the Atmosphere

This was on the front page of Youtube as a "featured video". I never thought I'd see the day when Stockhausen was a featured video. I used to have the CD of this, not his best work (I like "Kontacte" and "Sirius" much better) but it's a fun video.

The Diet

Huh - broke the diet today by first deciding to test dairy a day early with a yogurt at an a.m. meeting. God, it made me feel feverish and gassy and drunk all at the same time - yum! Then I later had a veggie egg roll at work (because the rule tends to be if you break one rule once then it's at least twice as easy to break the same rule a second time). This of course also made me feel dizzy and added the joy of phlegm to the mix. So yeah I'm sitting here at the reception desk at the firm right now feeling more drunk than I have in years off not a drop of liquor and wondering why the hell I had to have the yogurt.
